The upcoming game in the Doom series of first-person shooters is expected to be unveiled at next month's Xbox Games Showcase. Tentatively titled "Doom: The Dark Ages," the game is rumored to feature a medieval-inspired setting. The Xbox Games Showcase event is slated for June 9, during which Microsoft will unveil its upcoming first-party titles alongside its third-party lineup. Additionally, a dedicated presentation on the next Call of Duty game has been confirmed to follow the showcase.

According to a report from Insider Gaming, Id Software is set to announce the next Doom game at the Xbox Games Showcase. The game, known under the codename 'Year Zero,' has reportedly been in development for at least four years. While "Doom: The Dark Ages" is speculated to be the final title, no further details about the game are currently available.

The Xbox Games Showcase is scheduled for June 9 and is expected to include updates on previously revealed titles such as Avowed and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Additionally, reports suggest that the showcase may unveil the next installment in the Gears of War franchise.

Additionally, Microsoft and Activision have confirmed that the Direct presentation immediately following the Xbox showcase will be dedicated to the next Call of Duty, confirmed to be Black Ops 6. Xbox Games Showcase will feature an upcoming lineup of games from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox Game Studios, alongside third-party titles on Xbox.

Id Software, the developer behind Doom, is owned by Bethesda, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2021. While the last game in the series, Doom Eternal, was released across PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles in 2020, the next Doom title could potentially launch as an Xbox and PC exclusive.
