India's eight-wicket victory over Ireland in their opening T20 World Cup 2024 match on Wednesday took a turn for the worst as skipper Rohit Sharma hobbled off the field in the middle of the batting innings. At the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, Rohit got hurt on the upper arm by a delivery bowled by bowler Josh Little and had to leave the field. With the help of four fours and three sixes, Rohit smashed 52 off 37 balls before limping out injured. This gave India a great starting point to chase down a meager goal of 97.

On the second ball of the ninth over, Rohit was struck on the upper arm. After the last ball of the tenth over, the injury finally caused him to leave the field.

The fact that the injury was not significant was excellent news for India. After the game, Rohit disclosed the information. "Yes, it's just a minor soreness in the arm," the captain of India replied.

Rishabh Pant also suffered an elbow injury later in India's innings, on the first ball of the eleventh over. Josh Little also bowled that delivery. But Pant, after getting some treatment from the physiotherapist, carried on with his innings and hit a six to end the game.
