For the first time, the Sensex finishes above 80,000, and the Nifty reaches a new high.
The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 80,049.67, up 0.08 percent, or 62.87 points. For the first time, the index closed over the 80,000 mark. The overall Nifty 50 closed at 24,302.15, up 0.06 percent, or 15.65 points.
Following global cues and investing in banking and IT sectors, the domestic benchmark equity market indexes continued their upward trajectory on Thursday, with the Sensex and Nifty closing at new all-time highs.
