Nara Lokesh was written off after the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) trounced his Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, taking the Mangalagiri seat. However, not only has he turned things around, winning the seat by an unprecedented margin of over 91,000 votes in the most recent Assembly polls, but he has also become the party's spokesperson in the state.
In Andhra Pradesh, the TDP, led by N Chandrababu Naidu, the father of Nara Lokesh, dominated the votes and returned to power in the concurrent Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
