After the publication of Kalki 2898 AD, speculation arose around whether Mahesh Babu was the mysterious figure portrayed as Krishna. The situation has finally been made clear by Director Nag Ashwin.The plan was to keep him a shapeless, identityless silhouette at all times. If not, it just turns into a person or an actor. He was supposed to remain shadowy and dark-skinned, like some sort of enigmatic figure. That (casting), in my opinion, will be counterproductive," Nag remarked.
