"Let's Host An Olympics," PM Narendra Modi Asks The "2036 Team" for Advice

In his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that India wanted to host the Olympics in 2036. He then requested suggestions from Indian sportsmen to ensure that the quadrennial spectacle was hosted seamlessly in 2036. Notably, India intends to submit a proposal to host the 2036 Olympic Games. The Future Host Commission (FHC) and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) have also started a communication.

The Prime Minister extended an invitation to all Indian athletes competing in the Paris Olympics to participate in the Independence Day festivities at his New Delhi home. As he spoke to them, he invited athletes who had participated in prior Olympics to offer their advice and thoughts, which would aid the country in getting ready to host the Games in 2036.

"India is getting ready to host the Olympics in 2036. The opinions of athletes who have competed in prior Olympics are crucial in this regard. You all had to have seen and done a lot of things. In order to ensure that we don't overlook any important information in the run-up to 2036, we wish to record this and provide it to the government, PM Modi stated.

PM Modi also called the Indian squad an essential component of his "2036 team" and requested that the sports ministry create a document that takes player feedback and recommendations into careful consideration.

"You play a crucial role in my 2036 squad, enabling us to host the greatest Olympics ever." The Sports Ministry should get ready, prepare a draft and gather detailed feedback from athletes so that we can plan well," he added.

"You athletes ought to offer us advice on how to further develop Indian sports as well. Your opinions and recommendations are much valued since it is your duty to mentor people who will represent the nation in the future. Social media interaction with players is recommended. Such events might also be planned by the Sports Ministry at other locations.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) allocates the hosting rights for the Olympics after a thorough host selection procedure. The Future Host Commission, a special committee of the IOC, handles this topic.

It is necessary for the interested National Olympics Committees (NOCs) to start a conversation with the FHC. From there, the conversation must progress to a continuous dialogue and, at the end, a focused conversation with the chosen NOCs.
