Nishant continued his tournament journey with a unanimous decision victory (5-0) over the home favorite Peerapat Yeasungnoen. He now needs just one more win to secure a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics in his category.

India has already secured three boxing quotas for Paris 2024 through Lovlina Borgohain (women's 75kg), Nikhat Zareen (women's 50kg), and Preeti Pawar (women's 54kg), who won bronze at Tokyo 2020 and are two-time world champions respectively.

However, the participation of athletes in the Paris Games depends on their respective National Olympic Committees selecting them for representation.

India has sent seven men and three women to the second World Olympic Qualifier in an attempt to secure more quotas.

Three quotas are available for grabs in the women's 60kg, men's 57kg, and men's 80kg divisions in Thailand. The men's 63.5kg and 71kg divisions each offer five quotas, while the remaining nine categories have four quotas each.

Ankushita will need two more victories to secure a quota.

Indian boxers failed to secure any quotas at the first World Boxing Qualification Tournament in Italy in March.

Arundhuti Choudhary began her campaign with a 5-0 win against Stephanie Pieneiro of Puerto Rico earlier in the day to reach the pre-quarterfinals.

Berwal's campaign ended with a narrow 3-2 loss against Ecuador’s Gerlon Gilmar Congo Chala.

Sachin Siwach (57kg) will aim to reach the quarter-finals against Batuhan Ciftci of Turkey on Thursday. Commonwealth Games champion Amit Panghal (51kg), Sanjeet (92kg), and Jaismine Lamboria (women’s 57kg) will begin their campaigns after receiving byes in the opening round of their respective weight categories.
