Salisbury and Ram's Strong Start in Paris Doubles

Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram reached the third round in the doubles at the 2023 French Open

Britain's Joe Salisbury and American partner Rajeev Ram progressed to the second round of the men's doubles at the French Open with a convincing straight-set victory.

The duo easily defeated Czech Adam Pavlasek and Uruguay's Ariel Behar with a 6-3 6-4 win.

Salisbury and Ram, who have clinched four Grand Slam doubles titles together, including the 2023 US Open, have never advanced beyond the quarter-finals at the French Open.

They will encounter either Spanish pair Pablo Carreno-Busta and Sergio Martos Gornes or Gonzalo Escobar and Aleksandr Nedovyesov in the next round.

Elsewhere, British duo Maia Lumsden and Yafan Wang also progressed with a 6-2 6-2 victory in the first round of the women's doubles against Lin Zhu and Fang-Hsien Wu.

There is more British representation in the doubles later on Friday as Andy Murray and Dan Evans team up for the first time in a major tournament.

Wildcards Murray and Evans, both of whom suffered defeats in their first-round singles matches at Roland Garros, are set to take on Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild and Argentine Sebastian Baez in the final match on court 13.

In the women's doubles, British pair Katie Boulter and Heather Watson will compete against Hao-Ching Chan and Veronika Kudermetova.
