Israeli attack kills 27 Hamas militants in a Gaza school that they were "housing."

An Israeli bombardment on a Gaza school resulted in the deaths of about 27, and Israel claimed that the compound was home to Hamas militants, according to Reuters. The school property, according to the local media, is housing displaced persons as a result of the ongoing conflict.

Israel asserted that there was a covert Hamas command center at the United Nations school located in Nuseirat, central Gaza. It stated that Hamas fighters involved in the October 7, 2002, attack on Israel that started the war—which is currently in its eighth month—were kept at the facility.
According to Israel's military, measures were taken to minimize civilian losses prior to the fighter aircraft attack.

"The occupation uses lying to the public opinion through false fabricated stories to justify the brutal crime

it  conducted against dozens of displaced people,"Thawabta told Reuters.

This comes after Israel declared that fighting will not stop during negotiations for a truce.

Ismail Haniyeh, the chairman of Hamas, declared on Wednesday that his organization would only consent to an Israeli pullout and a permanent cessation of hostilities in Gaza as part of a ceasefire proposal.

"The movement and factions of the resistance will deal seriously and positively with any agreement that is based on a comprehensive ending of the aggression and the complete withdrawal and prisoner swap," Haniyeh was reported as saying by Reuters.
Haniyeh's statement was interpreted as a reaction to US President Joe Biden's three-pronged proposal to resolve the conflict in Gaza. An "enduring ceasefire" and an Israeli pullout from Gaza are part of the plan, provided that Hamas releases all hostages.

According to Reuters, negotiations for a post-war order in the Palestinian territories between Hamas and the Fatah party of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas are expected to take place in China in the middle of June. There have already been two rounds of reconciliation negotiations in Russia and China.
