Long Hours and Hard Work
In an interview with Business Insider, he said, "I worked really hard at Tesla and aimed to be as efficient and productive as possible. My shifts were long, usually around 12 hours. Since I was on salary, I sometimes had to stay even longer to finish tasks."
Sacrificing for Work
He shared that in 2021, he chose to sleep in his car to cut down on travel time. "I needed more sleep — the job felt like being an industrial athlete because we were always moving. More rest was necessary to be productive, efficient, and friendly at work."
Sleeping in the Car
He added, "I thought it would be easier to stay at the factory and avoid the hour-and-a-half commute. My coworkers were surprised when I told them I was sleeping in my car — it definitely got attention since it wasn't common practice."
Moving On
Losing his job taught him to adapt quickly. He said, "You can't dwell on things or complain because that doesn't help. When I found out I'd been laid off, it felt like a moment of grief. I was in disbelief."
"As I sat in my car outside the factory, it began to sink in. It hit me that I'd spent five years here, bonding with coworkers and sleeping in this parking lot," he reflected.
