Saina Nehwal Discusses Cricket Comparisons: "Jasprit Bumrah Won't Be Able To Take My Smash"
It was recently asserted by Saina Nehwal that players of badminton, tennis, and basketball had greater physical toughness than cricketers.
In a since-deleted social media post, young Angkrish Raghuvanshi of the Kolkata Knight Riders faced criticism for making fun of Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal. Following Nehwal's assertion that players in sports like badminton, tennis, and basketball are physically harder than cricketers and his criticism of the supporters for consistently favoring the gentleman's game over other sports, Raghuvanshi made his statement. In response to her remarks, Raghuvanshi poked fun at Nehwal on social media.
Raghuvanshi said, "Let's see how she goes when Bumrah bowls 150k's bumper at her head," in a now-deleted post on X.
Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah won't be able to handle Nehwal's smash, the player has now implied in response to Raghuvanshi's criticism of her.
"How are you going to get to that level of Virat? How do you plan on becoming Rohit Sharma? A great number of players must emulate them. They are unable to. There aren't many of them that way. But it seems to me that it's a sport more focused on skill. And bowlers—I concur. There, I won't pass away. In any case, why would I take on Jasprit Bumrah? In Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, Nehwal stated, "Maybe if I had been playing for eight years, I would have responded to Jasprit Bumrah."
"Maybe Jasprit Bumrah won't be able to withstand my smash if we play badminton. For these reasons, we shouldn't fight among ourselves in our own nation. That's my intended message. Every sport has its prime location. However, I'd like to say give value to other sports as well. Otherwise, where will we get sporting culture from? And cricket, Bollywood will always be our focus," the 2012 London Olympics bronze medallist added.
