Football: Italy's Euro 2024 Provisional Squad

Italy's head coach, Luciano Spalletti, announced the preliminary squad for Euro 2024, consisting of 30 members. The squad includes forward Gianluca Scamacca, who returns after a remarkable performance with Atalanta in the Europa League, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists since March. Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli also joins the squad after his comeback match against Bologna, following a seven-month ban for betting rule violations. Unfortunately, striker Nicolo Zaniolo and defender Destiny Udogie are excluded from the list due to injuries.

Spalletti has included uncapped defender Riccardo Calafiori in the roster, acknowledging his contributions to Bologna's qualification for the Champions League. Notably, six players from Serie A champions Inter Milan are part of the squad, while AC Milan lacks representation. The final squad will consist of 26 players, requiring four cuts.

Italy is scheduled to play two friendlies before the tournament, facing Turkey and Bosnia on June 4 and June 9, respectively. The defending champions will kick off their campaign against Albania on June 15 in Dortmund.
