Rashid Latif on the captaincy snub of Hardik Pandya
Ajit Agarkar, the Chairman of the Chief Selectors, will cite "fitness" as the rationale for choosing Suryakumar Yadav over Hardik Pandya as captain.
Suryakumar Yadav was named captain of India for the forthcoming series against Sri Lanka, which caused some controversy because Rohit Sharma's vice captain was Hardik Pandya in the Twenty20 World Cup 2024, which India won co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States. Ajit Agarkar, the Chairman of the Chief Selectors, would cite "fitness" as the rationale.
"No, they (the claimants) just give him a certificate stating that there are issues with his fitness and that he is not fit. Many players who weren't particularly fit went on to become excellent captains. Thus, I believe it was merely a pretext. Since you have to look at the situation, Rishabh (Pant) would have been the captain if Surya hadn't been present.
