New Delhi: Following his oath of office as a member of the 18th Lok Sabha on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the public has approved of his government's goals and policies and given it a mandate for a third consecutive term. He added that the goal of creating a "Shreshtha Bharat" and a "Viksit Bharat" is the first priority of the 18th Lok Sabha.

At the start of the first sitting of the new Lok Sabha, Modi told the media in the Parliament complex that his government would work with everyone to realize the people's dreams. In addition, he mentioned that June 25 marks the 50th anniversary of the Emergency and called the repeal of the Constitution a "black spot" on India's democracy.

As he greeted the new members of parliament, he stated that the goal of the 18th Lok Sabha is to create a developed India by 2047. He expressed optimism that the Opposition would fulfill its job and uphold the dignity of democracy, saying that people are expecting positive actions from it, but thus far, it has disappointed.

People in India prefer content over slogans, and the country needs a responsible opposition. Siding the Opposition, he remarked, "They want debate, diligence, not disturbance in Parliament." The Prime Minister announced that the recent parliamentary elections saw 65 crore voters cast ballots, marking the second time since Independence that a government was chosen to serve three consecutive terms in office. According to him, the event happened after 60 years.

Earlier last month, Modi won reelection to a third term in office. On June 9, Modi and his Ministerial Council took an oath of office.
