Dead woman found wrapped in Chicago Airport conveyor belt.

Washington: On Thursday, in a closed-to-the-public luggage processing facility at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, firefighters discovered a deceased woman entangled in machinery.

According to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford, personnel were dispatched to the airport at 7:45 a.m. in response to a report of someone trapped in baggage-moving equipment. He claimed that they found the woman in a luggage compartment, twisted in a conveyer belt system.

Though they haven't revealed her name, the police stated she was 57 years old. According to Langford, the baggage compartment was not open to the public, and it's unclear how she managed to get inside.

According to US Department of Labor spokeswoman Scott Allen, an Occupational Health and Safety Administration representative saw the woman at the scene and discovered she wasn't an employee of the airport.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene after being discovered unconscious, according to the communications office of the Chicago Police Department. According to the office, detectives have started an inquiry.

When the woman was first reported to the police communications office, it was unclear why firefighters and paramedics hadn't arrived for more than five hours, having been alerted at 2.27 am.
