Darshan's murder case, according to Ram Gopal Varma, is an illustration of "the bizarreness star worship."

Since Kannada star Darshan was arrested in connection with a suspected murder case, the majority of the film industry has remained silent. However, director Ram Gopal Varma expressed his opinions on X, formerly Twitter. He also discussed how star worship in India may go a bit too far, without naming the actor.

The director was not blind to the irony of Darshan apparently manipulating one fan to assassinate another fan. RGV also discussed how some fans go too far in their want to see a certain life for their idols.

"A fit example of the bizarreness of the star worship syndrome is a star using one die hard fan to kill another die hard fan who was interfering in his personal life," the author stated. One inevitable side consequence of the same problem is that fans will try to dictate how their idols should conduct their lives.

Fans surmised that RGV's tweet, which omitted Darshan's name, was about the Pavithra Gowda case and the Sandalwood actor. One admirer said, "I believe this has to do with Kannada actor Darshan and Pavitra Gowda's arrest," while another said, "You're talking about the murder incident involving Darshan and Renukaswami, right?"
