A statement from the police stated that the rescue operations had shown to be very intricate. Emergency responders have been unable to enter the structure due to the possibility of further collapse, according to regional broadcaster SWR.

Up to nine people could be stranded, according to local media.

Travelers are drawn to the Moselle region by its quaint villages and wineries perched above precipitous riverbanks.
