In 2024 Assembly Elections, who would be the Chief Minister of Odisha?

The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), which emerged victorious in the recently held assembly elections with 78 out of 147 seats, is scheduled to choose a new leader on Tuesday. The party has come to power in Odisha for the first time. On Wednesday, June 12, the new Chief Minister will take the oath of office.

The two party observers, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, are on their way to the capital of Odisha for the pivotal BJP Legislature Party meeting on June 11.

Historical Victory
In addition to being the state's first political party, the BJP's victory in the assembly polls marked the end of the five-term rule of the BJD, led by Naveen Patnaik, by cutting its number of seats to just 51.

Additionally, the BJP won 20 of the state's 21 Lok Sabha seats. In Odisha, the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections were conducted concurrently.

The swearing-in of the party's first chief minister and his cabinet is scheduled to take place at the Janta Maidan in Bhubaneswar on June 12; prime minister Narendra Modi and senior BJP officials are expected to attend.
