The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) School of Social Sciences (SOSS) has introduced the Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health (PGDMH). This program is open to individuals with a master's degree in psychology, social work, nursing, dental surgery, and medical graduates from various fields, including allopathy, ayurveda, unani, siddha, homeopathy, yoga, and naturopathy.
Program Details
- IGNOU's PG diploma in mental health is a one-year course offered in English.
- The total fee for the program is Rs 9,000, with an additional registration fee of Rs 300.
- Admissions are available twice a year, in July and January.
Objectives
The PGDMH program aims to address the urgent need for mental health professionals in India by focusing on capacity building and training professionals in both mental and physical healthcare to meet community needs. The flexible learning format allows students to study at their own pace.
