Chelsea Loses to Real Madrid, But AC Milan Wins on Penalties

Real Madrid, the reigning Champions League and La Liga champion, defeated Chelsea 2-1 on Tuesday to wrap off their preseason US trip, while AC Milan prevailed on penalties following a 2-2 draw with Barcelona. In the warm-up matches before Real Madrid's first La Liga game in a fortnight, 62,617 fans packed the NFL's Carolina Panthers' home stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, to witness Vinicius Junior make his maiden start. In the 19th minute, Dani Ceballos, a Spanish midfielder, gave Real Madrid a 1-0 lead with a right-footed goal into the bottom left corner.

In the 27th minute, Brahim Diaz doubled the advantage for the Spanish team with a left-footed kick from a tricky angle, slipping the ball from the left barely inside the backline and across the empty goal into the far right side.

Chelsea was unable to equalize in the 39th minute, despite a header from English striker Noni Madueke from the right side of the six-yard box providing an answer.

The other club friendly saw Barcelona and AC Milan draw 2-2 in Baltimore before the Italian team prevailed 4-3 on penalties.

Christian Pulisic assisted Luka Jovic's goal in the tenth minute, and Pulisic's own goal from a tricky angle into the upper right corner of the goal in the fifteenth minute gave the Italians a 2-0 lead.

Robert Lewandowski of Poland responded for Barcelona in the 22nd and 58th minutes, respectively, to score the equalizer.
