How a victim met Gandhis one-on-one after making an assistance request
The Congress leader was touring the Meppadi Higher Secondary School relief camp, which has been housing more than 800 persons evacuated from Wayanad's landslide-affected districts for the past two days.
Recalling his accidental encounter with former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, Unnikrishnan, a victim of a landslide, said, "When I said "humko bachao (rescue us)", he stopped abruptly and came towards me.

Gandhi traveled with his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who will run in the next by-election from Wayanad. Following his victories over Rae Bareli and Wayanad in the most recent Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi relinquished his seat.
