FA Cup Final: Tactical Masterclass by Ten Hag? 3-Time Ballon d'Or Winner Says No!
In the FA Cup Final, many praised Ten Hag for his tactical masterclass, but a 3-time Ballon d'Or winner has a different view. In this video, we dive into the controversial comments made by the legendary player who claimed Manchester United didn’t play good in their FA Cup final win.
Tactical masterclass by Ten Hag? No, I saw the game: 3-time Ballon d'Or winner says Manchester United 'didn’t play good' in FA Cup final win
Former Ajax legend Marcel van Basten said Manchester United didn't play well in their 2-1 FA Cup win against Manchester City on May 25, Saturday. The 3-time Ballon d'Or winner still praised Erik ten Hag for beating City in a domestic final.
Manchester United ended their otherwise disappointing season with a trophy. They finished eighth in the Premier League, their lowest ever. However, they redeemed themselves by defeating the defending champions in the FA Cup final.
Alejandro Garnacho (30') and Kobbie Mainoo (39') scored for Manchester United, while Jeremy Doku (87') scored for Pep Guardiola's team.
Van Basten believes Ten Hag's team was lucky to get this important win. He said (via AFC Ajax):
"Tactical masterclass by Erik ten Hag vs Manchester City? No. I saw the game. Manchester United didn't play good, very defensive and on the counter. But it was a great achievement that he managed to beat Manchester City."
After their win, The Red Devils qualified for the Europa League, taking the spot that Chelsea held. Chelsea will now play in the Europa Conference League, while Newcastle United, who finished seventh, won't play in Europe next season.
