The bodies of fifty persons from disadvantaged families have been found in and around Delhi during the last three days, police reported on Wednesday.
Parts of northern India were impacted by the western disturbance on Thursday; the region has been suffering from a severe heatwave since June 7.
According to the India Meteorological Department, there won't be a heatwave in the majority of the nation for the next four to five days.
Between June 27 and July 3, the monsoon is expected to affect most of northwest and central India. In the midst of the intense heat, the main rain-bearing system showed little improvement between June 13 and June 19, prolonging the wait for rain in northern India, according to the report.
"Heatwave conditions have abated from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, North Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh, and many parts of Uttar Pradesh today (June 20)," according to the weather bureau.
