CUET UG 2024: Record-breaking Attendance

Introduction:

The National Testing Agency (NTA) initiated the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2024 on May 15. The exam covered chemistry, biology, English, and general tests across India, excluding 258 centers in Delhi. On the first day, a total of 2157 exam centers were utilized.

Candidates attendance%:

In detail, 643,752 candidates took the chemistry exam in 1640 centers, 363,067 in 1368 centers for biology, 862,209 in 2077 centers for English, and 721,986 in 1892 centers for general studies. Accounting for multiple tests taken by students, this equates to handling 2,591,014 students in one day, which is 44.71% of the total scheduled slots for pen-and-paper mode candidates.

The UGC reported an overall attendance of over 75% on the first day of CUET UG 2024.

NTA is conducting CUET (UG) 2024 in hybrid mode, incorporating both CBT and pen and paper formats, for approximately 13.48 lakh candidates. Among the 57,95,211 subject combinations chosen by candidates, 93% are in pen and paper mode.

The examination is pen-and-paper-based for subjects with high registrations this year, reducing the testing period from 34 days last year to 8 days this year.

M. Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman UGC, praised the NTA's efficient planning and execution of CUET-UG, especially managing such a large-scale test in pen-and-paper mode.

Candidates scheduled to appear for CUET UG 2024 in Delhi on May 16, 17, and 18 should download a revised admit card reflecting the new exam center from the official CUET UG website: exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/.
