When he was barely 13 years old, Indian street rapper Naezy was originally influenced by Sean Paul's "Temperature." The rapper, who is 22 years old, started his hip-hop group The Schizophrenics with his college pals after releasing the music video for "Aafat" in 2014.  Inspired by the lives of underground rappers Divine (Vivian Fernandes) and Naezy (Naved Shaikh), Gully Boy tells the coming-of-age tale of Mumbai's Dharavi slums' aspirant street rapper Murad Ahmed (played by Ranveer Singh). The adventures of these undiscovered Indian rappers serve as a loose inspiration for Zoya Akhar's film. The film also starred Alia Bhatt.
