Faf du Plessis on MS Dhoni's Potential Farewell Before CSK Clash: 'People Have Talked About It for 6 Years'

Faf du Plessis discussed the rumors about MS Dhoni's future as RCB faces CSK for a playoff spot in IPL 2024 on Saturday. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings will face off in a must-win match for the last playoff spot on Saturday. While RCB needs to win by a certain margin to secure a place in the top 4, a win or even a washout will be enough for the Super Kings to get a playoff spot.

Even though RCB is behind CSK in net run rate and points, Faf du Plessis' team has the momentum. They have won five matches in a row after a bad start where they lost six of their first seven matches. This game will be a rematch of this season's opener, where Ruturaj Gaikwad led CSK to a six-wicket win.

Rohit Sharma's first reaction on MI's forgettable campaign under Hardik:

'It didn't go according to plan. We blame ...' RCB captain Faf du Plessis was hopeful about their chances as they hosted CSK in Bengaluru. “We’ve been doing really well for the last couple of weeks. So, we’re really looking forward to the game tomorrow,” Du Plessis said in a video shared by RCB.

“It’ll be a great occasion at home, in front of our fans, and there will also be a lot of yellow fans, but it’s gonna be a great occasion. We are calm, relaxed, and looking forward to the game,” the Bengaluru skipper added.

MS Dhoni's Potential Farewell?

Along with the excitement of the playoff race, there are also rumors about MS Dhoni retiring from the tournament. At 42, Dhoni has played well for CSK this year despite a knee injury. However, du Plessis said he isn't too worried about ending Dhoni's possible farewell.

“People have been talking about MS retiring for six years, so it doesn’t really change. The conversation is about what we do in our team,” he stated.

The former South African batter has played with MS Dhoni during his time at the Chennai Super Kings and was key to the team's win in the 2021 season of the tournament.
