Booths during the Haryana Assembly Poll in Gurugram and Other Cities

New Delhi: In the 2019 assembly elections, highrise apartment buildings in Gurugram and a few other Haryana cities will have their own polling places. The concept of combating urban apathy was conceived by the Election Commission. On October 1, voters in Haryana, which has 2.01 crore electors and 90 assembly seats, will cast ballots. On October 4, the results will be announced.
"Polling places will be located in multistory apartment complexes in Gurugram, Faridabad, and Sonipa. Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar stated, "This is one method of addressing urban apathy" while announcing the poll dates for Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana.

It's a widely held belief that residents of multi-story buildings tend to be less interested in voting, therefore this move could effectively increase the percentage of voters.

In 31 highrise communities in Gurugram, 52 polling booths were erected even during the most recent Lok Sabha elections.

In the Badshahpur Assembly constituency, there were 35 established booths, whereas in the Gurgaon Assembly constituency, there were 16 booths spread among 8 communities. In addition, one booth was set up in a society that is part of the Sohna Assembly district.

Three stages of elections—September 18, September 25, and October 1—will take place in Jammu and Kashmir, with vote counting taking place on October 4.
Three states—Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand—have assembly elections coming up since their legislative assemblies' terms end on November 3, November 26, and January of the following year.

Additionally, the Supreme Court recently gave Jammu and Kashmir until September 30 to hold assembly elections. The Union Territory is holding its first assembly elections since Article 370 was removed in August 2019.
