Tis Hazari Court Rejects Bail Application for Arvind Kejriwal’s Aide in Swati Maliwal Assault Case

On Monday, Delhi's Tis Hazari Court dismissed the bail application submitted by Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in the alleged assault case involving Swati Maliwal.

Kumar remains in judicial custody following his arrest by the Delhi Police, prompted by an FIR lodged by Swati Maliwal. He stands accused of assaulting her at Kejriwal's residence on May 13.

Emotional Moment in Court as Swati Maliwal Reacts

During the court proceedings, Swati Maliwal, who was present, became emotional and broke down while the defense counsel presented arguments.

"They possess an extensive troll apparatus, they have actively utilized it," she expressed in court.

“The individual accused was escorted to Mumbai and Lucknow by the party's leaders. If this individual is granted bail, it would pose a threat to me and my family,” she further emphasized.

Maliwal's Allegation and Kumar's Defense in Court

Maliwal, recently elected to the Rajya Sabha, claimed that Bibhav Kumar is not an ordinary individual and enjoys privileges akin to those of ministers.

During the hearing, Kumar's counsel, N Hariharan, contended that Maliwal went to Kejriwal's residence and contacted Bibhav Kumar, who was not present at the CM's house. He alleged that Maliwal proceeded to the CM's residence without authorization or a prior appointment.

Defense Argument by Hariharan

"Can anyone enter in this manner? This is the official residence of the CM," Hariharan contended. "There was a trespass, and a report was also filed."

"She had no appointment for a meeting, and there was no message of her arrival," he argued.

He further presented that she was halted by the security staff, after which she addressed them with, "You will make an MP wait," as referred to in the report.

Rajya Sabha MP Maliwal has alleged that she was assaulted by Kejriwal's personal assistant, Kumar, when she visited the CM at his residence on May 13. Kumar had been in police custody following his arrest on May 18.
