Arvind Kejriwal Is Set to Leave Prison Today, But His Bail Is Challenged by an Agency

New Delhi: Leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party are scheduled to meet Arvind Kejriwal upon his release from Tihar jail today, following his bail approval in a corruption case over the Delhi liquor policy. The Delhi Chief Minister was granted bail by a Delhi court when his attorney contended that there was insufficient evidence against Mr. Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Delhi High Court has heard a bail challenge from the investigative agency.
However, the AAP will show unity in protesting the national capital's water deficit prior to Mr. Kejriwal's release this evening. Atishi, the minister of water, and Sunita Kejriwal, the spouse of Mr. Kejriwal, will pay a visit to the Raj Ghat today, where the former is embarking on an indefinite fast.

With temperatures rising above 50 degrees Celsius, Delhi is experiencing a heatwave that is being exacerbated by a serious water crisis. The administration of Delhi has petitioned the Supreme Court, arguing that water into the national capital is being blocked by neighboring Haryana.

"Water shortage in Delhi will persist until Haryana releases water into the Yamuna," Atishi stated in her petition. In contrast, Wazirabad Barrage receives no water, while Munak Canal receives relatively little. Yamuna water undergoes water treatment before being returned to Delhi's population. However, Yamuna's lack of water is the cause of the supply interruption. All I can do is fold my hands and stand before the Haryana administration and appeal to save the lives of Delhi's public.

Atishi and other AAP officials will visit Tihar Prison this afternoon at around 4 p.m., when Mr. Kejriwal is released from custody.

While developing the Delhi liquor strategy for 2021–2022, the ED detained Mr. Kejriwal on March 21 on suspicion of money laundering. The policy was ultimately canceled due to concerns voiced by the Lieutenant Governor. Since Mr. Kejriwal is the AAP convenor, the ED has claimed that the money he received from the liquor vendors was utilized to finance the party's campaign in Goa.

Since the beginning, Mr. Kejriwal and the AAP have insisted that the Center is abusing its agencies to persecute the Opposition by filing fictitious cases.
