Arc Search Introduces Quirky AI-Powered Call Arc Feature: Offers Voice Responses!

Arc Search introduces a quirky AI-powered feature called Call Arc, which provides voice responses to user queries.

Arc Search for iPhone, an AI-powered mobile browsing platform, is receiving a new feature called Call Arc, which introduces voice capabilities. This feature, named Call Arc, is designed as a gamified experience that activates only when users bring their phone close to their ears. It provides verbal responses to queries, eliminating the need to view and read information on the screen. Additionally, the app includes a 'Browse for me' feature that employs various AI models to generate a web page relevant to the search query.

Activation of the Call Arc Feature: Call Arc is currently undergoing rollout, with most users worldwide already having access to it or receiving it in the next few days. To access this feature, users need to update the Arc Search app via the App Store. The activation process for this feature is unique and whimsical: The Browser Company has implemented it as a calling interface, which activates when users bring their iPhone (with the app open) close to their ear.

Once activated, users will encounter a call interface displaying an end call button at the bottom, along with a speaker button and a button to access more information about the responses. Positioned centrally is a large animated smiley emoticon with the word ‘Arc' written on top. Additionally, a call timer indicating the duration of the call is visible.

How the Call Arc Feature Functions Upon accessing the feature, Gadgets 360 confirmed that it operates smoothly. There is a slight delay of approximately four seconds (which may vary based on internet connectivity), but it does not significantly disrupt the user experience. Upon processing the query, a call waiting tune is played until the response is prepared. Subsequently, the AI provides a verbal response, while users can also view the text on the screen.

The feature proves beneficial in situations where users are outdoors or unable to read the screen to check responses. For example, if a user is cooking and wishes to find a recipe, they can utilize this feature to listen to the steps without interrupting their cooking process. It's worth noting that ChatGPT with GPT-4o can also access the internet and provide lag-free verbal responses. Although Google has not yet released the Gemini app on iOS, its Android counterpart offers similar verbal response capabilities.
