According to a survey, up to 47% of Indians living in cities reported that they or a family member had fallen victim to financial fraud in the previous three years.

According to a LocalCircles survey, among urban Indians who had suffered financial theft in the previous three years, 43% had done so using a credit card and 30% had done so with UPI transactions. It stated that almost one in two victims of credit card fraud had unauthorized charges made by local and foreign businesses and websites.
