A Kerala couple ties up their 85-year-old grandmother, takes her jewelry, and gets arrested.
According to authorities, the suspects bound the elderly woman's hands together on Thursday and took her gold jewelry by force.
Kollam, Kerala : According to police on Saturday, a woman and her spouse were detained for allegedly robbing her 85-year-old maternal grandmother in this neighborhood of gold jewelry and ornaments.
Based on a complaint by Yashoda, the elderly Uliyakovil resident, the accused Parvathy and her husband Sarath, both in their late twenties, were taken into custody by the East police here on Friday from Thiruvananthapuram.
Parvathy, who had been staying with the complainant, reportedly knew that she had money and gold jewelry on her.
According to authorities, the suspects bound the elderly woman's hands together on Thursday and took her gold jewelry by force.
The duo broke up her almirah and took out ₹ 25,000 that they had stashed there.
The grandmother's accusation prompted police to start a manhunt for the couple, who were apprehended on Friday in Kazhakkoottam, a neighboring town of Thiruvananthapuram. Police stated that they were remanded afterwards.
