UGC NET 2024 was canceled to protect students' interests rather than in response to concerns.
Since the subject has been reported to the CBI, Education Ministry Joint Secretary Govind Jaiswal stated that the specifics of the information cannot be shared.

Officials from the Education Ministry stated the next day that no complaints had been received regarding the UGC-NET, but a suo motu action had been taken to safeguard the interests of the students based on information that had been provided to them.
The CBI has been tasked with looking into the situation, thus joint secretary of the education ministry Govind Jaiswal stated that specifics of the inputs cannot be disclosed at this time.
"Although we did not receive any complaints, the information we obtained from agencies suggested that the exam's integrity had been compromised. Suo motu measure was made to protect the students' interests," he stated.
"We'll be announcing the new exam date soon," Jaiswal informed the press.
The Education Ministry stated in a news statement that the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) provided information to the UGC one day following the exam, indicating that there may have been compromises to the exam's integrity.
The Ministry's decision is made in the midst of a significant controversy surrounding purported irregularities in the NEET medical entrance exam, which is currently pending before the Supreme Court.
The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has determined to cancel the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination in order to maintain the highest standards of transparency and the sanctity of the examination process. Information will be supplied separately for a new investigation that will be performed, the ministry stated.
