The 'irregularities' in NEET should be investigated, says former chief minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot.
On Friday, Ashok Gehlot, the former chief minister of Rajasthan, called for an investigation into the purported anomalies in the NEET medical entrance examination.
A number of National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) applicants have claimed that marks were manipulated, resulting in a record 67 people receiving the top rank—six of whom came from the same testing location.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), however, refuted any anomalies and claimed that some of the factors contributing to the pupils' improved scores were the modifications made to the NCERT texts and grace marks for tardiness at the testing locations.
"Candidates have expressed apprehensions of irregularities regarding the NEET exam and its result wherein several candidates from the same centre got full marks, and candidates with close roll numbers topped," he stated on X.
"Many such aspects are surfacing which increases the apprehensions of irregularities in the examination," he stated.
Gehlot stated that the issue affects the integrity of the medical profession as well as the future of thousands of pupils. To ensure justice, the NTA and the federal government should look into it seriously.
Congresswoman Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized the Narendra Modi administration over the matter earlier in the day and demanded that the "legitimate complaints" of the students be investigated and resolved.
