PM unveiled a new structure: Minister addresses the roof collapse controversy at Delhi Airport

The Delhi airport's Terminal 1 roof fell on Friday, killing one person and wounding four others, according to Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu. The roof was built between 2008 and 2009.
Naidu made his statement in response to the Congress's accusation that the ceiling that fell was a component of Indira Gandhi International Airport's new Terminal 1, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi had opened in March of this year.
"To be clear, the structure that collapsed here is an ancient building, and the building that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated is on the other side was opened in 2009," Naidu, who took stock of the situation at Delhi airport, said.
According to government sources, GMR Airports Limited hired outside contractors to build the damaged roof.
A section of the Terminal 1 canopy at Delhi airport collapsed on Friday after a downpour that pummeled the nation's capital.
The Union Minister promised compensation of Rs 3 lakh for injured parties and Rs 20 lakh for deceased, along with the announcement of a statewide audit.
"We offer our sympathies to the family of those who lost their lives in this terrible event. We dispatched the fire safety team, the emergency response team, the CISF team, and the NDRF team right away. The minister went on, "Everyone was available at the scene, and they have conducted a thorough inspection to ensure that there are no additional casualties there."
