Meet Maulik Patel, a cancer patient from Mumbai who scored 715 out of 720 on his first try in NEET UG 2024.

In spite of his battle with advanced cancer, Maulik Patel passed the extremely competitive NEET UG 2024 exam in just one try. Originating from Ghatkopar in Mumbai, Patel's life took an unexpected turn in Class 12 when he began experiencing signs of cancer, such as fever, constipation, and pain when urinating. Tests later indicated the presence of a tumor close to his bladder. Additional diagnostic tests, such as a biopsy and CT scan, validated the sarcoma diagnosis. When the treatment started, his cancer had progressed to an advanced stage. In June 2022, Maulik had surgery to remove the tumor.

The ranker who received 290 rank in NEET stated, "After several chemotherapy sessions, the doctors recognized the need for additional treatment modalities, including radiation therapy, consisting of 31 fractions."
