Kharge Slams PM Modi's Kanniyakumari Meditation as 'Drama': Here's Why

"'Do it at your home': Congress President Kharge criticizes PM Modi's meditation in Kanniyakumari as 'drama'"

"The ostentatious display you're engaging in by visiting there will only bring harm to India": Congress President Kharge's pointed remarks on PM Modi's meditation in Kanniyakumari.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanniyakumari, stating that politics and religion should never be intertwined. He emphasized that if the Prime Minister has faith in God, he should practice it in the privacy of his home.

"Politics and religion should never be intertwined. These two realms should remain distinct. Individuals of different religions may align with you, while others may oppose you. It is inappropriate to associate religious sentiments with elections," stated Kharge, as reported by ANI.

PM Modi is currently in Kanniyakumari for a 3-day spiritual retreat after concluding his Lok Sabha elections campaign. He is engaged in meditation at the Dhyan Mandapam, where revered Indian philosopher Swami Vivekananda is believed to have experienced a divine vision about 'Bharat Mata'. His meditation will continue until June 1.

"He is going to Kanniyakumari and putting on a show," Kharge sharpened his criticism. He questioned the "waste of money by deploying so many police officers" and asserted that this action would only bring harm to the country. "If you have faith in God, then practice it at home," Kharge remarked.

Kanyakumari, renowned for its breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, is home to a memorial situated on a small islet near the coast. Prime Minister Modi participated in the 'Surya Arghya' ritual, which entails paying homage to the sun, and offered prayers with folded hands, as depicted in a video shared by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on its 'X' handle.

Voting is scheduled to occur on June 1 in 57 Lok Sabha constituencies across seven states and one Union Territory, including Prime Minister Modi's constituency of Varanasi.

Polling will be conducted from 7 am to 6 pm, with the vote count set for June 4.
