On Monday, Kerala's Left government rejected the opposition Congress-led UDF's plea to initiate legal action under the Prevention of Corruption Act regarding allegations surrounding the "amendment" of the state's liquor policy. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan dismissed this demand from the opposition during the state assembly session, marking the first assembly meeting since the Lok Sabha polls.

Following the government's decision, the opposition grew agitated, chanting slogans against the LDF government and displaying placards in protest. They stood in front of Speaker A N Shamseer's podium to express their discontent.
