Axar Patel's rise to prominence in Indian cricket took ten years. Over the ten years after making his international debut, the all-rounder has played in all but 14 Tests, 57 ODIs, and 60 T20Is as Ravindra Jadeja's understudy. His batting has only recently started to attract some notice in all formats, perhaps a couple of years. Additional proof of that potential was shown in the just finished T20I World Cup, where he was deployed as a floater and consistently produced results for his team.
