The last phase, entirely in northern, western, and eastern India, is crucial for both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the INDIA bloc alliance.

The final and seventh phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls will culminate on Saturday with voting taking place for 57 constituencies across 8 states.

The final phase, encompassing northern, western, and eastern India, is crucial for both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the INDIA bloc alliance, including Congress, with psephologists predicting a closely contested election this time compared to a one-sided sweep in 2019.

On Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi attempted to overthrow the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh.

Referring to Modi's speeches in Nahan and Mandi last Friday, the former Congress chief stated that the PM claimed the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh would not last long.

“The Prime Minister says he will bring down the Himachal Pradesh government through stealing, bribery, and corruption,” Gandhi said.

Heads of the Congress-led opposition INDIA bloc’s member parties will convene in Delhi on June 1, as per a report. The meeting is scheduled to coincide with the seventh and final round of polling for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

According to the report, the INDIA bloc leaders will assess and discuss the coalition’s future plans.

The election results are slated to be announced on June 4.

Among those invited to the meeting is Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, who was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in the Delhi excise policy case on May 10, is required to surrender on June 2.

Kejriwal has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking an additional seven days of interim bail in a money laundering case linked to the excise policy case. AAP stated that the extension is required to undergo PET-CT scans and other medical examinations.

Congress paid tribute to Nehru

Senior Congress leaders took part in a solemn ceremony to honor Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first PM.

Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the country’s history is incomplete without the remarkable contribution of “the architect of modern India”.

In a post in Hindi on X, Kharge emphasized that the history of India is incomplete without the extraordinary contribution of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who played a pivotal role in advancing India in scientific, economic, industrial, and various other fields.

Nehru was a committed guardian of democracy and a source of inspiration for us, he remarked.

“Our sincere tribute to "Hind ke Jawahar" on his death anniversary,” Kharge expressed.
