SC: NEET-UG retest must be on solid ground.

Delhi, New: The Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that any decision to hold the NEET-UG 2024 exam again must be based on the firm evidence that the integrity of the entire test was compromised.

The important hearing on a number of petitions concerning the contentious medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024 has begun, with the bench consisting of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, judges JB Pardiwla and Manoj Misra stating that the exam has "social ramifications."

The Supreme Court declared, "We will open the case today," and adjourned the cases scheduled before the NEET-UG pleas. Countless young scholars are eagerly awaiting this; let us listen and make a decision. The Bench urged the petitioners to demonstrate that the paper leak was "systemic" and affected the entire exam, justifying cancellation. The petitioners were demanding cancellation, retesting, and a court-monitored investigation into the purported irregularities in the May 5 exam.

"There must be proof that the integrity of the entire test was compromised for there to be a reexamination," the CJI stated. Regarding the current investigation, the Bench stated, "The CBI investigation is underway. If the information provided by the CBI turns out to be true, it will impact the investigation and make people more intelligent. The hearing takes place
