Kalki 2898 AD appears to have broken the jinx of the Indian box office, as the film has become the largest box office opener of the year. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kalki 2898 AD grossed Rs 95 crore nett in India on its first day. The gross collection in India is projected at Rs 115 crore, and when combined with an expected foreign collection of Rs 65 crore, the film's opening day total is Rs 180 crore.

The film was released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam, and in India, the Telugu version made the most money. Telugu contributed Rs 64.5 crore to the total nett collection of Rs 95 crore. This was followed by Rs 24 crore in Hindi and Rs 4 crore in Tamil. Rs 2.2 crore in Malayalam, Rs 30 lakh in Kannada. Kalki 2898 AD had an overall Telugu occupancy rate of 85.15 percent.
