On Saturday, Google commemorated the sixth phase of India's Lok Sabha elections, which is happening in 58 constituencies across six states and two union territories (UTs). In its doodle, Google replaced its iconic logo with an image showing an uplifted index finger marked with ink, symbolizing the democratic process of the Indian elections.

Voting for the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections started at 7 am on Saturday across 58 constituencies in six states and two Union territories. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), more than 11.13 crore voters are eligible to vote, including 5.84 crore men, 5.29 crore women, and 5,120 individuals of the third gender.

Some notable candidates include Manohar Lal Khattar from Karnal representing the BJP, Bansuri Swaraj from New Delhi, Manoj Tiwari from BJP and Kanhaiya Kumar from Congress in North East Delhi, Naveen Jindal from Kurukshetra representing BJP, and Raj Babbar from Congress in Gurgaon.

The results for the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on June 4.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged voters across eight states and Union Territories to participate in the electoral process.

“I urge everyone voting in the 6th phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to vote in large numbers. Every vote matters, so make yours count too! Democracy flourishes when its citizens actively engage in the electoral process. I especially encourage women and young voters to vote in large numbers,” he wrote in a post on X.
