Earlier this year, when asked about his return for the HBO adaptation, Wright said, “Anything is possible. We shall see.” Season 2 of The Last of Us will introduce many new characters. Kaitlyn Dever will play Abby, while Isabela Merced will portray Dina. Young Mazino will take on Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny.

The legendary Catherine O’Hara will make a special appearance in an undisclosed role.

Wright’s career has been marked by critically acclaimed performances. His recent role in ‘American Fiction’ earned him his first Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe nomination.

Wright has received five Emmy nominations, winning for his role in HBO’s ‘Angels in America,’ which also earned him a Tony Award for the stage version.

Wright’s diverse filmography includes roles as Commissioner Gordon in ‘The Batman,’ the Daniel Craig-led James Bond films, ‘Asteroid City,’ and ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ movies.

Show writer and executive producer Craig Mazin told reporters, “Sometimes it will be very different, and sometimes it will be barely different. But it will be different and it will be its own thing.” “It won't be exactly like the game. It will be the show that Neil and I want to make.”
