The CBI has prolonged the Delhi Chief Minister's custody in a corruption investigation till August 8.
New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's judicial custody was extended by a Delhi court on Thursday in connection with money laundering and corruption proceedings involving the purported excise fraud.
Kejriwal's custody in a money laundering case under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate was extended by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja until July 31. Meanwhile, his judicial custody in a corruption case brought by the CBI was extended till August 8.
In the money laundering case, the judge also prolonged the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party and a former deputy chief minister of Delhi, K Kavitha, the leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and other accused parties until July 31.
Through a video conference, the accused were brought before the court.
Kejriwal was initially granted interim bail by the Supreme Court in the ED case; however, since he has not provided the bail bond in the case, he remains incarcerated in Tihar jail.
In the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case, he is being held in custody by the court.
