Google unveiled the Fitbit Ace LTE smartband in the US on Wednesday, May 29. Marketed as a "new, first-of-its-kind connected smartwatch" for children aged seven and above, it offers the functionalities of a smartphone without requiring a phone. It features support for calling, messaging, and location sharing. Additionally, the smart wearable includes Fitbit Arcade, which promises to introduce new games with each update, alongside exclusive pre-installed games. The smart band is set to be available for purchase later this year, offering a variety of cases and band color options.

Price and Availability

The Fitbit Ace LTE is priced at $229.95 (approximately Rs. 19,200) in the US and will be available for purchase from June 5 via Amazon or Google Store. Pre-orders are currently open in the US.

Customers will also need the Fitbit Ace Pass data plan to enable LTE connectivity, available through subscription options of $9.99 (approximately Rs. 800) per month or $119.99 (approximately Rs. 10,000) annually. Annual subscribers will receive a complimentary Ace Band valued at $34.99 (approximately Rs. 2,900), while those purchasing the annual subscription before August 31 can avail a 50 percent discount on the plan.

Fitbit Ace LTE: Color Options and Band Variety

Google's Fitbit Ace LTE offers two case color options - Spicy and Mild. Buyers also have a selection of six polyester band options to choose from, with the company confirming regular introductions of newer band options.

Specifications and Features

The Fitbit Ace LTE features an AMOLED screen with a pixel density of 333 ppi and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It includes an optional protective bumper around the case for added durability. Equipped with an inbuilt speaker and microphone, the smart band offers up to 50 meters of water resistance.

To access LTE connectivity on the Fitbit Ace LTE, users require the Fitbit Ace Pass, eliminating the need for an additional SIM card. LTE connectivity enables calling, messaging, and location sharing functionalities. Users can manage contacts authorized to call or message via the smart band using the Fitbit Ace app, available on both Android and iOS platforms.

Battery Life and Connectivity

The Fitbit Ace LTE is equipped with a 328mAh battery, providing up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge. Charging is supported via a USB Type-C port for convenience. The smartwatch features exclusive arcade games designed to encourage kids to "move more."

In addition to 4G LTE connectivity, the device supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC connectivity. However, NFC connectivity will be available to users in the US soon, enabling features such as "Tap to Pay."
