Pawan Singh's Expulsion from BJP

Pawan Singh, a Bhojpuri singer, was expelled from the Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party for running as an Independent candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections against the official National Democratic Alliance candidate in the Karakat constituency. Despite earlier indications of his BJP affiliation, Pawan Singh chose to contest independently after expressing interest in a ticket from the Rashtriya Janata Dal. He withdrew his mother's candidacy for the same seat.

The Election Commission confirmed her withdrawal on May 14. Speculations arose that his mother's candidacy was influenced by Pawan Singh's concerns about his own nomination rejection. Pawan Singh's decision drew criticism from BJP leaders like Union minister RK Singh, who demanded his suspension from the party for contesting against the NDA nominee in Karakat.
