Elon Musk: X's Town Hall with Donald Trump ‘Will Be Interesting

Elon Musk comments that X's town hall with Donald Trump "will be interesting."

Joe Biden rejects X's invitation to participate in a debate or town hall, citing Elon Musk's scheduled town hall with Donald Trump.

Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter) will host a town hall with former US President Donald Trump, marking his return three years after his suspension following the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.

The presumptive Republican nominee will address submitted questions during the live-streamed event, which will also be aired in collaboration with cable channel NewsNation. This follows Trump's conviction on all 34 counts related to a hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

The social media company is also organizing a comparable town hall with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who is running for president as an independent.

According to The Wall Street Journal, President Joe Biden was invited to a debate or town hall but declined the invitation.

Musk also shared The New York Post's town hall news with the caption, "This will be interesting."

The dates, locations, and moderators for these town halls have not been announced yet. X users will submit questions, but moderators, likely including at least one NewsNation host alongside other journalists, will have the final say on what is asked, as reported by Axios.

Trump, who famously clashed with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins during a town hall last year, has his first debate against Biden scheduled for June 27.

The concept for these town halls was conceived by X CEO Linda Yaccarino and pitched to Nexstar Media Group, NewsNation’s parent company.

Since Musk lifted his ban last year, Trump has only posted once on X.

Reports suggest that Musk and Trump have become closer in recent months.

Musk has openly expressed his dissatisfaction with Biden, and reportedly, Trump and Musk have met to discuss various topics, including cryptocurrency policy and a potential invitation for Musk to speak at the Republican National Convention this summer, according to Bloomberg News.

Musk wrote on X that he was "pretty sure I've never discussed crypto with Trump, although I am generally in favor of things that shift power from government to the people, which crypto can do."

Discussions have also arisen about a potential advisory role for Musk if Trump wins the election in November. Recently, Musk attended a dinner in Los Angeles with tech moguls aiming to prevent a potential second term for Biden, who is trailing Trump in polls in several key swing states.

Brian Hughes, a spokesperson for Trump, stated to Bloomberg News, "President Trump will be the sole decision-maker regarding the role an individual plays in his presidency. Many of the nation's most influential leaders in technology and innovation are concerned about the harm caused to their industry by Biden's failures."
