Bengaluru Citizens Clean Up Idle Road Following Civic Body's Silence
Social media users have shared images and videos from the cleaning campaign, which show a number of individuals clearing the silt buildup on the road while wearing gloves.
Bengaluru's tech community and students decided to clean up a hazardous section of Balagere Road jointly rather than wait for the government to respond. Notably, the accumulation of slits on the major Balagere route between Kadubeesanahalli and Varthur made the path dangerous for walkers and slick for two-wheelers.
Several college students, schoolchildren, and IT engineers became frustrated with the state of affairs and decided to intervene. Social media users have shared images and videos of the cleaning campaign, which feature multiple persons wearing gloves and using cleaning equipment to remove silt buildup from the road. The citizens' protest follows several requests for road cleaning being denied by Bengaluru's local body, BBMP, on the grounds of financial constraints.
Many on social media commended the fantastic act of community service. According to one user, "Techies in Bengaluru work for corporates during the week, earn money, pay taxes, and then spend their weekends fixing issues that the BBMP has neglected."
In the meantime, a lot of people criticized the government for doing nothing. ''This is shocking,'' said another user. The municipal authorities in Bangalore need to feel embarrassed over their treatment of law-abiding, sincere individuals.
A third said, "Imagine how infuriated and agitated they must have been that they assumed responsibility for cleaning it up instead of complaining about the roadside dirt causing pollution." ''Be the change that you wish to see in the world,'' said the fourth.
