Apple to Equip Siri with AI-Powered ‘Proactive Intelligence’ for Enhanced Smarts!

Apple will reportedly enhance Siri with AI-driven 'Proactive Intelligence' to make it smarter.

Apple's annual developer event, the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), is coming soon, and a new report has highlighted the company's AI strategy that might be unveiled there. The tech giant from Cupertino is reportedly working to make its virtual assistant Siri smarter by integrating AI and adding "proactive intelligence." Additionally, Apple has partnered with OpenAI and plans to make a significant AI announcement at WWDC 2024.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter, Apple executives are not confident about the pace of Apple's AI development. Internally, there's a sense that the gap between Apple and its rivals won't close anytime soon. Concerns have likely grown after OpenAI and Google recently unveiled advancements in their AI models.

However, Apple is expected to make significant announcements at WWDC 2024 on June 10. One focus area is Siri, which currently performs basic tasks but falls behind modern AI chatbots in speech and functionality. Apple aims to improve Siri by integrating AI. Gurman claims Siri will get AI-powered "proactive intelligence" features, including auto-summarizing notifications from the iPhone, providing quick news summaries, transcribing voice memos, and more. Existing features might also be upgraded.

In addition to Siri, Apple might introduce AI-driven editing tools with iOS 18. Although specific details about these features are scarce, they are speculated to resemble those found in Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S series smartphones. Gurman suggests that these features may not be impressive to users who have been using AI in Adobe Inc.'s apps for the past few months.

WWDC 2024 might also mark the official announcement of the partnership between Apple and OpenAI. According to the report, the two companies are already working together to bring OpenAI's AI technology to Apple. While the specific features are not confirmed, there are rumors suggesting that the AI firm could integrate ChatGPT with the iPhone and enable native access to its AI assistant.
